Planning
While building a Revit component library, I realised how slow part identification was and sought speed gains. Researching ClickUp for task management led me to discover Tillit MES. Marrying these tools inspired a unified coding standard to automate data flow from design to shop floor, cutting manual steps and aligning teams.

Challenge
Complex code strings with slashes, dashes and mixed letters created confusion and audit errors. Each department maintained its own patchy documentation and ad-hoc fixes, so Production, Sales, Operations and Logistics teams worked from misaligned data. These siloes blocked planned automation, increased rework and hampered cross-team collaboration.
Objective
Implement a unified alphanumeric coding standard to replace special characters and map consistently across all product lines. The new system must integrate seamlessly with our MES and ERP platforms, support automation of work-order generation and create a single source of truth. Quick adoption by every stakeholder team was critical to unlock efficiency gains.
Results
The new code enabled creation of a structured product-code database with designated slots, future-proofing our system. Automated workflows then replaced manual processes, driving human errors to nearly zero. Teams gained reliable, real-time part tracking and freed capacity previously spent on audits and corrections, boosting overall operational efficiency.
